A Kundli is a snapshot of the sky at the moment and place of your birth, drawn as twelve houses holding the twelve signs and nine grahas.

The three anchors

Three placements anchor every reading: the Lagna (the sign rising on the eastern horizon), the Moon sign (the mind and daily experience), and the Sun sign (vitality and purpose). Vedic practice weighs the Moon most heavily, which is why horoscopes here follow the Moon sign.

How to read your chart

Start with the Lagna and its lord, then the Moon's nakshatra, then the running dasha. Only after those three does it make sense to look at individual yogas or transits — context first, details second.

Sidereal vs tropical

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, offset from the Western tropical zodiac by the ayanamsa (about 24 degrees today). That is why your Vedic Sun sign can differ from the Western one.
